Grant Awarded by Beazley Foundation
Virginia Legal Aid Society (VLAS) is proud to announce that the Beazley Foundation has approved a $50,000 grant to Virginia Legal Aid Society to support the Strengthening Families with Children (SFC) program in Suffolk and Isle of Wight.
We are grateful for the support of Beazley Foundation, in recognizing the importance of our services to families in the community through civil legal representation. Through our SFC program, we apply legal advice and representation to strengthen low-income families in stress. Such families face many obstacles at a time when their young members are the most vulnerable. Obstacles related to healthcare, education, income, family stability, and housing, if not successfully overcome, can cause life-long harm. SFC supports families by:
- Increasing and preserving financial resources
- Increasing access to public benefit programs, health insurance, and/or employment
- Increasing stability for families in transition
- Maintaining or obtaining safe and affordable housing
Through the generous support of Beazley Foundation, VLAS can continue to provide advice and representation to those who need it most in Suffolk and Isle of Wight.
